Just wanted to come toot my own horn, and say thanks for all the good info on this site. I mostly lurk and search the forums since this has been my first project and don't have a lot to contribute (yet?). Anyway, this is what I ended up with:
Sealed 14.25"(cubed) internal volume (47.5liters) MDF Peerless XXLS 830845 12" Driver Rhythmik Audio A370-SE plate amp. Got the cool spikey feet and nifty hex screws to "trick it out" Covered all internal MDF surfaces with 1" quilt batting (like polyfill, but in sheets) Finished with semi-gloss black to match my other speakers (boring, but my wife wanted them to match, and didn't want me to spend more money on veneer I have no real test equipment except a sound pressure meter, so I equalized all my speakers with a pink noise generator and went to work playing movies and music to impress myself (my wife just rolls her eyes I'd get some pictures, but you've all seen a black cube before I suppose |

Currently it has 2 inch spikes that pretty much pierce the carpet and hit the sub-floor. Quote:
Thanks for the remarks |

Since he's using spike feet, he can discard the slab IMO.
