Assassin 12 or Dayton DVC 12?

T/Ss are about the same, price is with in $5 bucks. Used for sealed subs in a 1.3cu ft' box.

Very similar specifications but the Assassin is a easier 4 ohms load to drive but the other one is 5$ cheaper.

Assassin is newer and slightly more efficient also.

I think I would favor the Assassin.

Very similar specs. They appear to both be 4 ohm Znom (if the DVC is in parallel). They're fairly similar, and both look like good drivers. I'd probably flip a coin personally, or define what you're looking for closer (Xmax, mms, FS, dB/W).

Thanks for the replies, overall output is the goal. Xmax won't be an issue at the amp is only 150watts RMS@4 RMS in a sealed box.

The Daytons are a 5 year warranty, the Assassins are only 3y years. I have had good luck with Daytons in the past but Ascend is a great respected company as well. At least from what I remember of the Atlas series.

I somewhat feel obligated to Dayton as I am very brand loyal, but Ascend is kind of an underdog bringing their brand new motor design to light.

It may end up being the coin's decision!

All things being equal choose the one that looks better . If I was going to buy a Dayton driver I would spend the extra cash and get one of the reference series subwoofers, which probably sound better then the Assasin.

Not to rag on Ascendant or anything, I use an Atlas 12" in my system and it sounds wonderful.

The Dayton Reference 12" subs, if you don't know where they are:

I agree, the Reference series subs are nice too, as are lots of subs in that price range. Driver selection is one of the funnest aspects of building subs. (most of my audio experience is in building home/auto subs for friends and associates)

i think i would go with the Dayton Reference Series. i also have an Atlas but, due to the controversey in the past over the T/S Paramaters of the Atlas drivers which still, have not been corrected to this date that i am aware of so, i would have to go with the Dayton Reference Series.

Wise choice! Personally, I wouldn't have gone with those Reference subs either. Pulp-paper cones just look and definately sound better to me than aluminum cones.

BTW, I just recieved 3 more of the Dayton 15" DVC subs a week or so ago. So now I have a total of 4 subs getting ready to knock down walls! LOL
