Glad it sounds better with the stuffing. Did you do part or all of the line?
I wouldn't recommend rockwool for speakers unless you can wrap it in something like cheesecloth. The basalt based insulation I have worked with have too much "dust" coming off of them, especially at the cut lines. |

Re cals note re rockwool and cheese cloth. You can always wrap speaker rather than stuffing. Its easier.
Cheese cloth may be a bit open weave. A light cotton cloth, (old sheet, shirt or whatever) will do as no treble to worry about. |

The stuffing seems to help extend the low end too, the very deep notes now can keep up with the rest...
