It surprises me when people go to the trouble of screwing their subs together when glue is so strong.
Has anyone ever reported a box coming apart at the seems? |

I switched from screws to using biscuits. The boxes came together square and where very easy to clamp. I borowed the plate joiner and found it super easy to use the first time.
Biscuits contribute to very strong boxes. What were the Marchand kits you built?

I use screws so i dont have to clamp it tight since i dont have good clamps...plus...how many clamps can hold as tight as screws as the glue dries?

I think you will find that the biscuit approach builders a stronger box with far less finnishing work.
I have a bunch of very cheap clamps that I picked up at Harbor Frieght on sale (they always have a sale) that work great. I use Gorilla Clue (deadly stuff). Biscuits tend to "pull" the box into squareness and add a lot of strength.

Next time I won't be using screws - they were only used as a method of clamping. Nothing to do with strength. Really a pain in the a@# to align the panels and get everything smooth. Next time I will try the biscuits method, or just plain old clamping.
Marchand kits were the XM1-k and PS10-K. I configured it for 2nd order at 40Hz. They really are excellent quality with thorough documentation. Performance with music is just great. Bottom end now seems limitless. Scale and impact has improved and so things seem a bit more like a live venue now. |

Iv'e used the XM9's in several application. I have also built two amps using their LM3886 boards with great success.
There stuff is good and so is there support. What are you using for subwoofer amps?
