saw these subs @ 4 for $100.00 at meniscus audio. i wondered if these would work out for a free air install in my car around 12-15ft3 trunk. (maybe with a aperiodic loading setup)
bg made eminence 12in woofer. free air measure re 3.52 fo 30.28hz sd 49.087m2 vas 87.674ltr cms 256.238 u m/n mmd 101.560 m kg mms 107.813g bl 11.064 tm qms 4.829 qts 0.526 spl 88.029db i am without a home computer right now and no ability to do any simulations. if anybody could crunch these numbers and let me know what wattage they will handle before having excursion problems, and xmaxx/freq resp/and overall performance these might get it would be of great help. i might just add a second 15" quattro sub to my car setup. |

We can't find xmax, you have to give it to us, then with xmax, we can help you with the wattage.

It's 11mm xmax peak to peak or one-way?
For the price you paid them, I'd guess it's peak to peak. BTW, the measurements in your first message are completely different from the measurements in your second message. re 3.52 fo 30.28hz sd 49.087m2 vas 87.674ltr cms 256.238 u m/n mmd 101.560 m kg mms 107.813g bl 11.064 tm qms 4.829 qts 0.526 spl 88.029db VS. fs 21hz qts 1.09 vas 258ltr xmaxx 11mm 8ohm You said it's 4 ohms, then you say it's 8 ohms, fo and fs are different, qts is different, vas is different... Maybe they gave you another driver parameters? Once you give me the right parameters, with the corresponding Xmax value, I'll be able to help you further.

well the first message is what i was emailed after i asked for more information from them. i was sent a email with these made with LMS in free air, delta masss curve.
the second is the small blurb listed next to the speaker on the specials page. 11mm xmaxx and qts 1.09 fs 21hz 8ohm etc... could they have measured the speaker on a baffle and gotton such total different numbers? the high qts low fs and ok xmaxx had me interested. i wish i had better information than this, and thank you for your interest/help with these subs. |

For IB you want low Q, high x-max and as much SD as you can afford.
