Default what type of enclosure is bazooka?

Hi,

I've been impressed by my 6" powered bazooka subwoofer. I'd like to build something that has a similar size and punch.

What type of enclosures do Bazooka use? Is it a simple ported design? Bandpass?

Thanks,

Paul

A search brings this thread here up. Is this what you're looking for?

They are a vented design, the "tube" in this case has no sonic advantages other than it being a naturally strong shape to make an enclosure out of.

Default wrong tube?

Thanks, but I think they are talking about emulating the bose tube. I'm more interested in the Bazooka tube.

If its a big long relatively narrow tube with a woofer at one end and a hole at the other its a quarter wave pipe / transmission line. If its more like a water heater with a port, then its probably a ported box. If there is internal ports it could also be 4rth or 6th order bandpass. Im not really familiar with this bazooka.

From that Crutchfield link:

Another plus — the tube design eliminates bass "standing waves," the booming distortion created as low frequencies resonate within an enclosure.

Actually a tube shaped enclosure has the strongest resonance of all enclosures, although the tube is not long enough for standing waves in the bass region, the peak in frequency might still be audible but some stuffing should cure that.

Effectively, every wall is parallel, but with this size of enclosure it wont matter at subwoofer frequencies. Ive been on dairy farms with less bull than that marketing claim from.
