Default Subwoofer Efficiency

Fellow Audio Fanatics, i am looking for 18" subs that are extremely efficient, 103db + are really, the higher the better, if anyone could put me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated, i've looked around for quite a while and my greatest success has been with the "smith pro audio 118 pro club sub" it puts out 108db with 1 watt at one metre, is they're much else available in this db range... i got some pretty mean midrage and highs, but getting enough bass to keep up with em is hard, so yeah, any suggestions would be great. thanx

It will be hard to find something that will match these specs, basically because it's false information if not made up.

In most cases they forget to mention you'll need a stack of about 6 or more cabs to reach such an efficiency at the frequency respons they claim, from such a (relatively) small cab. Most manufacturers add a few dB as well, just for looks.

Is it?

I don't have that problem with a 98 dB/W/m sub (two combined), doing parties up to 120 people. Or is power a problem?

If you really need it, go big and hornloaded.

I was going to suggest a pair of pro 15's instead of a single 18. That should get you into the 100's..

Depends how low you want to go though.
