Hi guys,It's about a year that I build my two tempest subs...and in the beginning I was somewhat satisfied..but lately I dont' know if it's me or they lost thier punch....
To make a long story short...the subs just don't sound like they used to..they are missing the punch and floor shaking effect they had last year... I am powering them with a Crest CPX 2600 amp at both coils at 4 ohms..at 750 watts per....so I know I am not short in the power dept...maybe too much... Maybe it's the placement or the ceramic floor.... room is about 350 sq.ft. I have some pics of the building process and location of subs..if anyone notices anything I could improve on, please let me know.. ps..I also have a Carver TFM 35...that I havent tried wiht them yet....but this amp has less power... http://www.freewebs.com/kanaris/mysubs.htm |

You certainly are not power limited.
Bass is dominated by room interactions. Assuming you have them in the same box as last year and the position is the same the problem probably lies between your ears, not with the drivers. If there is damage to a driver it's typically obvious. You can pull them out of the box and check the suspension and push down & up on the cone to make sure you don't have any rubbing. The VC on the Tempest was a beefy unit so it was typically suspension limited rather than power limited. It was hard to thermally destroy it. The spider is typcially what gave first.
