KEF B139 as subwoofer

B139 in IB runs out of xmax at 1w (85 dB) at 60 Hz.

Not a subwoofer. And not that extended without help from the box.

IB, as in, in the wall between rooms. I don't know what power I'm feeding them, but they are plenty loud enough down to subwoofer frequencies.

Oops, didn’t look close enuff. It will do 1 w at 20 Hz without exceeding xmax (but that is 85 dB), if average levels are 75 dB or less it will do fine.

I can't hear 20Hz I reckon 28Hz is probably low enough and if it'll do 32Hz easily and cleanly I'm happy. I'm very impressed with in wall IB subs, it's in the corner of the room and the response is pretty smooth. I still prefer OB bass though, I find the "pressurisation" of closed speakers at low frequencies uncomfortable on my ears, I've tried to explain it to other people but they don't seem to understand or have the problem.

It is often felt not heard, but you can certainly detect it.

I find the "pressurisation" of closed speakers at low frequencies uncomfortable on my ears, I've tried to explain it to other people but they don't seem to understand or have the problem.

Same as my preference in general for wha i call “low-pressure” boxes.

What's odd is that the pressurisation is only momentary, whilst the cone is moving forward, I'm surprised it seems to have an effect. I've always been sensitive to driving up or down hills, have to keep swallowing, first time I flew it was a nightmare.
