hey guys these daewoo subs on ebay look tops (apart from the daewoo logo all over them)

well ive never known this brand before....
SPECIFICATIONS:

* Titanium aluminium centre cap (170mm)

is there some way of telling if these subs will perform well in either sealed or ported box?

ill be making a DIY box in my EB falcon in school(woodwork)

As Qts is quite high they will only be any good in a sealed box. They look good for the money. I wouldn't trust the power rating though as that is a heck of a lot of power to shove through a 2 inch voice coil. Half the RMS rating is probably more sensible but even that's a push IMO. Also excursion is not stated.

Max power is ussually rms-powerhandling x 4, so make it about 400 Wrms.

Still, without Xmax you don't know what power it can handle mechanically, so you would have to find out in practice.
Looking at magnetsize/thickness and Qts I would of course aspect it has a fairly large Xmax.

DAEWOO makes good cars and refigerators (and God knows what else ). If their speakers perform about the same, they won't be bad, but not special either.

To me it looks like an all show no go speaker. I think for that price there are better options.

that would be slightly less than what you would pay if it was CAD...

also remember we have to pay a lot more for our everything than you guys.

I still think you could get something better for the price. I could be wrong though, I am not Australian and don't know how things are priced over there.

Just to clarify as I write this 1 AUD = 0.955865 CAD, and about the Pioneer deck, no it doesn't.

Parts of them look the same as some cheap chinese subs I've played with in the past (cone/surround ect), good for booming only.(and they tended to tear their spiders)

You would be far better off with something like the entry level pioneer subs.
