In your drawing above, just flip the outer driver around to clamshell with the inner driver, but retain the same depth so the outer driver's magnet is parallel with the cab edge. Yes it wastes some volume, but when covered by grillcloth you've got your SAF covered (no basket hanging out of the box), you get optimum isobarik coupling, and push/pull operation.

Thanks for your replies. It's great to get input from someone more experienced with this.

I don't like the thought of high order filters, as like the KISS principle... So I guess I should try to cross lower then that, and use the Peerless HDS164 for mids (in stead of the HDS134 PPB), which I think will run out of linear excursion at high levels if it needs to go 180-200Hz before rolling off.
