Default Should I take my sub with me?

The movers are coming tomorrow. I should have thought of this earlier Anyway, my current subwoofer (which someone gave me for free) is an NHT 1259 in a really heavy cabinet (1.5" MDF all around, and about 2'x2'x1.5' on the outside). The current room is 20'x25', which opens into a 15'x15' dining area. In the new place I'll have a smaller room, right now I don't remember how much smaller.

So I'm wondering - is it worth taking this sub with me? I like the driver OK, and it's got its share of fans online, but it's also pretty old, right, so there are probably significantly better drivers available now? How much would it cost to build something decent for say a 12'x15' room (that's a guess)? This is a duplex so I'm not looking for house shaking bass, just something that goes down low enough so I don't miss out on bass guitars and kick drums. I don't think I can "downsize" to a 10" driver though. If the driver is worth it, I could take just the driver too.

Any thoughts/suggestions would be most appreciated.

Saurav

That might not help you much with your decision but I'd be willing to find the driver a nice warm place in my house if you don't want to take it with you.

haha

I would say take it. If you do, then you don't have to spend money and/or time making another one.

Yeah, that makes the most sense I guess. Take it since someone else will be lugging it up and down the stairs. Then think about an upgrade later.
