I have the above mentioned subwoofer and am happy with it, but I would prefer to have something I made myself, like every other speaker I have ever owned. The only reason I have the Sunfire is that I sort of "inherited" it. I would prefer to sell it, and use some of that money to make a good replacement. Are there anygood DIY drivers that will go in this small or almost this small of an enclosure and get me decent output for the size? I am not expecting the output I can get from the Sunfire, but I don't NEED that much output because I hardly push the Sunfire at all in my little living room. Any suggestions?

Not sure what kind of output you are looking for, but to get decent output at low levels you will most likely need a linkwitz transform to boost the low end.
To do this you will need a fairly high excursion driver with a decent amount of power. Check out www.acoustic-visions.com . I think I saw in another post that they can add a linkwitz transform to some of their amps. This might work good with one of the drivers from Acendent. ( www.ascendentaudio.com) |

I think acoustic elegance is going to have some AV12's and AV15's soon. (www.aespeakers.com)
A sweet set-up would be an AV15 in a 16" cube box with the 500 watt PE plate amp with a linkwitz transform. |

Ascendant's Avalanche 12 and Adire's Tumult 12 (both due out in a couple of months) should both be great candidates for a small sealed/high powered/LT box. 27 and 34mm Xmax w/ XBL^2, respectively.
