Default tuba 36 and low fs driver

Hi
Why canīt i use a low fs driver in a horn ?
(iīm told i canīt)

i have a ravemaster Rvxt1524

it is alot like the Delta 15lf http://www.loudspeakersplus.com/html/delta15lf.html

Except m driver have a lower fs.

any how i would like to make a horn if possibel.
but i donīt know much about calc. a horn.

Yes,you can because the rear chamber will bump the resonance up,and the horn will drop it down due to the air mass loading the cone.

You can use a low Fs driver in a horn.

One of the old rules of thumb is that you need a driver with a high EBP. EBP = fs/Qts, so a low fs will result in a lower EBP, could be the reason why you got told not to use a low fs driver. It however stays only a rule of thumb since the're also designs these days (with low fs drivers) that perform very well.

The design of the particular horn you're mentioning require the T/S specified by Bill Fitzmaurice in the plans...
You could alter any parameter, but it may require a total redesign of rearchamber, flarerate and so on..

As you know, the design is a tuned high impedance bandpass and I trust Bill's recommendations regarding drivers are correct..

Rajeev and other users on his forum has hands on experience with this design, and will gladly help you recommending suitable drivers and other tips..
