I don't have info on it but this is interesting:

Utah Speakers - A History Lesson
Fender used Utah speakers occasionally in the 50's and these were apparently pretty good speakers as far as quality and tone are concerned. Fender continued to sparsely use Utah's during the 60's. (Most likely when they couldn't get enough Jensen's, CTS's, or Oxfords to do the job). But these speakers didn't hold up well or sound as good as the 50's versions.
During the 70's, fender used Utah's quite alot. But by this time, the quality of the
speakers had drastically dropped from the one's that are found in either the 60's or the 50's amps.
Utah went on to become "Pyle" speakers made by Radio Shack for car audio use in the 80's

Utah speakers

I have a set of Utah speakers;
15" woofers with 4" voice coils,
horns and tweeters, rated for about 100 watts,
also crossovers to match, tho not enough info on the crossovers,
everything is very heavy, even the crossovers.

I've been searching the net for more input also.
