THe spider gets put under alot of stress during high excursion strokes. Its whole purpose is to stop the cone and begin to move it back in the opposite direction. Epoxy would work great. just make sure to scuff the metal area you plan on attaching it to. Rubber cement would work but it looses adheadin when things het hot. and since alot of hte heat generated by the motor is dicipated via the basket rubber cement wouldnt be the best of options. Superglue would work great. but justl ike the epoxy, scuff the metal before applying to ensoure pores for the glue to get down in and hold on to.

As I may recall, superglue does not work well with porous surfaces, read the side of the glue bottle before using it, it will tell you what it best. Also, make sure the glue will not react negatively with your spider's material, other it the part in contact with glue will get "eaten."

the spider has 2 jobs.
1. centering the voice coil in the gap so it does not rub.
2. providing a restoring force to the centeral position

Yes, that is what i ment. once the motor stops pushing it isnt going to start pull untill it switches polarity completely (remember that music is AC) the Spyder keeps the voice coil from exiting the motor structure and keeps it centered along with stoping the voice coil. The surround Keeps the cone from swaying.
