What has anyone found to be the best, and hopefully most cost effecient way, or component, to equalize a subwoofer? Manufacturers of some higher end drivers are really recommending that some form of EQ be used, so does this mean throw one of those Audiocontrol sub EQ's on there or what?

Well, if well designed with room gain in mind and you can place it well, your sub will be equalized by itself ;)

But then, a parametric equalizer can correct usual peaks in the response.

It can also correct some holes, but then you must be sure that the amplifier can take it, and that you won't run the cone in overexcursion...!
