I am looking to build a sealed tumult in a 3ft sealed enclosure. I am having a difficult time finding an amp to power it. How much power do I need? I have been looking at these amps:
Adire audio DT300, AVA250 Rythmik Audio 350 Parts express 300-808. Are there any other options that would work well? I really want this sub to shine while listening to audio and that is why I think I could use some of the lower power amps but I need advise. Any suggestions would help. |

We'll have a few new amp options coming out this Fall that are perfectly matched for the Tumult...

some ideas.................
pro audio amplifiers, a good dollar per watt ratio for entry level versions (maybe 20 - 30 cents per watt if you buy online). Entry level; Crown XLS QSC RMX etc. You need a crossover unless you upgrade to a higher level of amp. ![]() ........... http://www.thebuttkicker.com/buttkic...fier_home.html |

I have a Crown XLS 402 powering a Adire Tempest (15") w/a linkwitz transform circuit in a 2 cu. ft. enclosure. Needless to say, the thing requires a massive amount of power, and the Crown performs well. I did have some problems running 4Ohm bridged with the amp so I am running 8Ohm stereo, but I am still able to rumble.
So I second the PA amp suggestion. Subs don't need ultra-low distortion amps, and if you need to do some active equalization like a linkwitz transform, you will need massive amounts of power. Even without the transform circuit, a 200+ watt rated amp will be all but a requirement if you plan on getting loud. |

I am curious why the Hypex range of amps wouldn't be suitable, physical size maybe. Any info you can share with us about these new amps? Thanks Dick |

Dick,
They're suitable, but for some reason they don't sell much... The HS1000 is a great option, but because of the Euro/USD exchange rate, they're quite pricy... We have some class D amps (designed and built right here at Adire) that are coming out. Up to 1200W into 4 Ohms, cascaded 2nd order filters (switchable bypass/2nd order/4th order), two full parametric EQ bands (+/- 12 dB gain, 0.5 to 5 Q, 16 to 80 Hz Fc), variable phase, gain, etc. Run REALLY cool (about 94% efficient), are pretty small (10.5" square OD, 9.5" square cutout), and going to be pretty cheap (under $600). Crown K1 or K2 are pretty damn good sub-amps and are fanless so they don't make that PA amp noise
