Hello,

There really is no "best" speaker. There are speakers that are "better" suited to an application over another. Whenever I start to decide on a speaker system I like to define the goals first. This will help narrow the field down and focus the selection process.

What is the application?
EDM for huge audiences outdoors, home theater, stereo playback of LP's, etc?

Budget.
How much $ is available for the project?

Size / weight.
How big can the subwoofers be? Is a 1600L cabinet ok? Will they be transported a lot or set in a fixed install? Is 500lbs too much weight? Most people have a maximum size and weight range they are willing to tolerate.

Answering these questions would provide information that other members could use to help provide advice to you.

For the applications you have in mind, you will require an array of these or equivalent. There is a relationship between wavelength and array size. In open air the VD requirements are much larger as well. I assume you are looking for extraordinary performance, thus the recommendation for this particular driver and related drive system.
Regards,
WHG

How many $800 drivers can you afford?

2400w is the total power output available?

Geritass,
Seems like 2 small cabs only? Plus 2 large cabs?
How much total power? What amps?

You state "small" and "large". We do not know what these sizes mean to you? To some people a 50cm (20") cube is not small.

Danley makes subs that are 152.4x152.4x71.1cm and over 200kg. Is this too big?

First of all, my apologies for my bad english......

Iam going to try to explain.

Iam looking for the best subwoofers cabinets.

to me there are the big ones like Martin WSX, Othorn, Gjallarhorn, orbit shifter, etc.

and..

small or medium size like thams, cubos, mth30...

may you reccomend 2 or more best subs from each size?

thanks

It would seem that you already have amps since you say 2400 bridged @ 8ohm or 1200 per side @ 4ohm. Oddly I have some Yorkville AP4040s that have that exact spec.
Anyhoo, you might not potentialize an othorn with that amout of power... depending on the driver you choose.

I power each othorn(B&C 21SW152-4) with one side of a Crown 12000i(4500 @ 4ohm) and they really pound.

Ok. is the Othorn the best overall sub? If yes, CAMCO Vortex6 Bridged at
8 ohms will be right?

No, there is no best overal sub. You can also build 40 Cubo18s much simpler build, less wood, compacter size. It will not go low. But with 40 stacked you probably can. Or 40 Keystones also 'simpler' build to the othorn. Won't go as low but doesn't really matter with 40.
