Grill clearance recommendations

Thanks ! That's the same zone i'm using.

I've been wondering if the idea of x-mech less a few mm might be a good idea... with the idea of hearing the cone strike the grill before damage occurring.

Pls know I hope none of this ever happens, but I do f... up now and then :eek:
 
I find that this is usually enough clearance between the grill and driver. :D

Bad idea. You probably won't hear the cone striking the grill over the sound of the top cabinets, and the cone hitting a metal grill could cause damage. X-mech on most current PA type sub drivers is the limit of cone movement, not the coil striking the back plate, so should not cause damage.
