I have a little 6.5" JBL sub in my car with a sealed box. To make it unobtrusive, I fitted a grille with some speaker cloth stuck over it. Looked fine, no troubles.

Fast forward 1 year and the cloth has some marks and looks tatty (it's an estate and I have dogs and a garden  ).

Removed grille temporarily to clean it. Vargas, hmm, turn it up. CLACK CLACK. That's my sub bottoming out!

So, after some investigation, I have concluded that 1uF in series with 10K impedance Kenwood class D amp = 300mmsq speaker cloth :p

Can I submit that as some sort of mathematical patent  or should we just remember that subs need to breathe :D
