Hello all,

is there a BR plan for a 12" that is able to match a jbl srx 718.
-driver cost is not an issue, the overall weight is, considering it needs to be carried 4 floors frequently.

we currently own 8 Ev sba 760 and we are not happy with the weight and output.

any help will be greatly appreciated.

i will consider a 15" if 12" is not able to meet the desired goal.

Hello all,

The JBL SRX718 uses a 2268, it has about 8mm Xmax, the cabinet weighs 79 pounds and is 8 cubic feet gross.
A 12" has about half the cone area of an 18, so would need to have 16mm Xmax to provide the same displacement, "air moved".
That type of displacement in 12" usually uses ferrite magnets, heavy.

The neodymium Eminence Kappalite 3012LF has 9.1mm Xmax and only weighs 7.6 pounds. A pair, each in a 2.7 cubic foot box with an FB of 44Hz would have an F3 of 45 Hz and greater output than the JBL SRX718 (40 Hz F3) but go much lower and louder than the 60 Hz F3 of the EV SbA760.

If you built slightly larger boxes for the 3012LF ( a pair being the size of one SRX718), and lowered the tuning to 40 Hz, you could lower the Fb and get a 40 Hz F3 with more output than the SRX718.
