I have 4 831727 Peerless drivers.

Want to build 2 sub enclosures... to go with my upcoming fullrange Jordan JX92S.

So what to do... how about dipole, push-pull arrangement?

suggestions?

If I had 4 sub drivers, I'd probably try one of these. :devilr:

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

The 6th order bandpasses I've heard are nothing to talk about. "Muddy"

The specs for Geek's driver indicate a ported alignment would be best. With the large Vas, I would go isobaric as well (you have 4 - why not).

Why not build your Jordans as towers, and build these subs into the base as isobaric clamshell downfiring subs; configure it as bi-ampable.

downfiring

Hi,

I have four of these same peerless drivers and was thinking of using them as dual TL subs firing down from my attic (all dead space up there, well except my roof). Planet10 pointed out it was probably a bad idea to use these peerless drivers firing up or down.

I forgot where I saw the formula to determine if your woofer is able to fire down without really shortening its life, but I do remember these peerless didn't spec out as good down firing candidates.

Now I'm leaning towards two coupled sonotube TL's. Here's a couple of links that might be helpful:

Best of luck,

Peerless Driver sub

Hi AudioGeek, I have built 2 subs using your drivers in isobarik config. See my post at
http://diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=259184#post259184

The box is 48 x 15x13 inches about 75 liters with a 4 inch port of about 33 inches (used a 90deg corner inside the box)
They are driven by a Parasound HCA-1500A at 305 wpc (4 ohms) the 2 drivers are wired in parallel. I get in room F3 of 22 Hz, good to a SPL of about 100db before port noise becomes audible /or the driver start hitting bottom. They are really fast and very good for music listening. For HT, they can be easely made to loose control and make crackling noises.

Happy listening.

a few year ago i had 4 of these. i made 2 subs.

each sub was a 3 chamber band pass design. the center chamber was 30 liters and the 2 other chambers were 45 liters. the center chamber had 2 ports (4" dia forget length but it is easy to expriment with this adn tune the speaker for the room).

the sats in question were dynaudio gemini. i have not heard the system at length after i built it as the friend for whom i built it moved soon after.

i did hear the sub and used 2 different placements. corner and 3 feet from each wall. givne that the corner placement had so much more WAF it was not too boomy.

if i were to build it today however i might go for a TL if there was room for a big box. or an isobarik if there wasn't.
