Dayton SPA1000 plate amp reliable?

I am on the verge of ordering this plate amp for a subwoofer build. Are these amps dependable?
I have read a few 'bad' threads about the reliability of Dayton plate amps....does thus apply to the spa1000 too? Anybody with a spa1000 , please chime in...thanks.
I think Dayton has released an mkii spa1000.......what does this entice?

Any info would be good.

Are there any other recommended 1000watt plate amps out there? It is for a 18" sealed sub build.
