First, are you absolutely sure that the rattle is coming from the sub? Sometimes, something in the room can resonate and it is very difficult to tell where the sound is coming from.
Assumiing that it is the sub, is it internal or external? If internal, then you need to remove the driver and investigate. Whatever is loose should be fairly easy to spot. Perhaps it can be stuck back in place with hotmelt glue.
The driver is usually held in place with nuts and bolts. The nuts are usually captive so you just have to undo the nuts and then carefully lift out the driver. Obviously a bit easier if you have the sub on its back so the driver is horizontal rather than vertical.
