Default active sub recommendation for pioneer BS22

Hi i purchased a pair on pioneer SP-BS22-LR speakers after reading many great reviews about them. they sound great apart from a lack of bass. im looking to purchase a active subwoofer to fix the problem and would like a few recommendations. my budget is $200. Im using a Hifimediy 2050 amp. Iwas going to purchase the pioneer sw-8mk2 but after reading a few bad reviews about it not really working at low volumes ive decided against it. any help would be great. thanks

Hi,

Reviews of the Pioneer sub are mostly very positive.

e.g. Pioneer (Andrew Jones Design) SW-8MK2

The sub is shown set to max cutoff. Indicates to me that a little port
detuning /damping wouldn't go amiss for audio, probably fine for AV *.

rgds, sreten.

* You can try inserting into the vent a folded into a tube piece of 1/4"
thick open cell foam, oblong 3 x port dia x the length of straight port.
Will go a little lower, a little tighter with less or no bass bump.
