Default Q on T-TQWP

Hi,

1. What is the difference between a T-TQWP system and a T-TQWT system?

2. Are the desired driver parameters similar to those for a TH system, e.g., low Qes, low Vas, and high Qms?

Thanks and regards,

Rob

Pipe or tube, it's a line. The T stands for Tapered, in the horn means Tapped.
And the behavior at low frequencies is different, since a TL is a way to couple the movement of the cone by tuning the acoustic load ( seen by the back of the cone of the driver ) to 1/4 of the wavelenght.
Horn loading a cone is different: it's not direct radiation as the resistive impedance seen by the cone changes with the horn, and the bass behavior is not defined by Fc and Q; the horn+driver is different, as Qms is different ( air ...weights ).

For a back loaded or tapped alignment, a low Qms is desirable since there's little acoustic loading to balance out the pipe's/horn's. WRT low Qes, this is a function of the desired BW, so doesn't de facto need to be as low as some claim.
