Has anyone tried the apexjr super 8 inch sub? It's quite cheap and i was wondering what quality it was - will be able to live up to a scanspeak 9700 and 18W8546 MW in a 2.5 or 3-way system? Perhaps running 2 or 4 each side...

Hello
If it's APEX brand it's most likely not great. i own a APEX TV and DVD player and they are not great quality but they do do the job. Bob. |

It's NOT the APEX brand you speak of.
I've have no personal experience with them, but I've heard some good things about them.

I'm not sure about the smaller drivers, but I got the sae1205 from apexjr. When it came in the mail, it was a very heavy, solid, seemingly well made driver, and has performed excellently, as was the amp. For the price, i bet you can't really go wrong with the smaller driver

Kongen...
If you forward me your email address I can forward you a nice email feedback I got on these with pic's. steve.apexjr@prodigy.net As for being compared to the Apex that makes TV's and DVD players that is pretty funny. However I did work for my father's company for many years and it was called Apex and that's why I just added the "Junior" and also when I returned phone calls I called myself Apex Jr Steve @ Apex Jr |

i highly Recomend the Apex JR Super 8....i've owned Two Units...and they both Worked Great...they are Great Subs the Frame is Solid Cast Aluminimum, the Motor Structure is big Beefy and Strong with a Vented,Extended Pole Piece...the Voice Coil is a 2" Copper Coil on a Kapton Former, the low bass is very impressive...(Especially with multiple units),in fact they are so good to me..i might order some more.
im not sure if the Posted X-Max of 4.9 mm is correct...the beefy build says its would likely seem more like 6 or 8 mm...either way in a proper enclosure they will kick hard...and they look rather impressive moving when playing low notes. one minor complaint is the fact that the actual Cone is 6.5" Inches (you get 8" if you measure to the edge of the surround) not a big deal...these are still great. and the price of 39 Bucks for one is not bad at all... its a better value than the 8" DVC Dayton,Tangband 8" to me. Try Em...you'll like em. |

This my question in this thread:
