been working on these for some time. finally making some progress.

Looking good man.
What are you going to load them with?
Just looking at them and my back is already giving off some sympathy pains... I'm guessing the round cutouts on the back are for casters or caster boards?
Can you point me to some dimensions for the hand hold cutouts? I'd been thinking about trying them on a box.

they weight a little,but not too much. i am thinking maybe 120 with driver. i have wheel boards that will hook on the front and yeah, the cuts are for stacking for when i load them in the truck. i currently use a pair of peavey sp118x cabinets. now they are heavy for what they are. i am shooting towards using the B&C 18TBX100 in the CBEs. i can send you a cad file of the cuts or a pdf with dimensions

Hi scameron78,

Nice build and Stipes design is a very good PA concept, imo.
Don't forget to make cut-outs in the V-stub otherwise your driver might hit it.

Insurance 18mm + 5mm = 23mm should be enough in case of accident (Steiper designs are prime ones); why surpass x-var, 11mm?

If you have chance try 18NW100 to compare do it; tried 18TBX100 tested in Xoc1 (without cone correction) shows low sensivity, excess of cone excursion for power applied.
Mms are near equal which means both have strong cones to survive high stress..

When a driver in a horn/TH is driven up and beyond its Xmax it can show much higher peaks in movement. These non-linear movements are not an issue for capable drivers as long the driver isn’t hitting anything. To insure enough clearance for your driver (or optional drivers in future) you can use Xmech plus a couple of mm.

Learned that loudspeakers have their limits: mechanical e thermal.
Power compression rules at long therm after x-máx 9mm, and x-var 11mm.
Tests in Xco1 TH18, with proper low cut and hipass, shows that put more W on it gives nothing than more PC and stress to the loudspeaker.
2000W to 18TBX100 gives same as 18LW2400 with 1100W with both cones travelling uncontrolled; if I insist will pay for recone.
2300W on 18NLW9600 gives around 2 dBs more with excellent cone control.

Respect your opinion, but my option is use loudspeakers till their limits and so optimise their results to obtain good clean sound and longevity.

Both B&C and 18 Sound drivers show 2,2dBs PC at 0dB level.

Using it passing x-var help spyders to loose early, modifying T/S parameters, when Fs will rise dow...

Think CB results will surpass TH18.

Hi Pasc,

I don’t disagree with you, Pasc, but you are talking about something else. You are describing its usable excursion (linear movement) while I was talking about worst case scenarios for excursion, usually caused by accidents (such as wrongly set low-cut filters for instance). Therefore I recommended giving a driver full clearance to move all the way up till its Xmech (plus a little), even it will not be used that way under normal circumstances. This can prevent mechanical damage in those rare occasions you have not accounted for.
