personaly i think the center piece does noting (except taking up volume)
agreed with jim ,those cones sometimes flap out of control by accident,dropping mic or needle.
would be a shame to damage a driver ,for such an easy mod.

I figured that from the looks of the cut outs and milling of handle slots etc. either way they look good!!

Did you try one in your own symmetric experiment and measured the difference at high levels?

no measurements to proove it.
my gues its just like corner pieces .
i should have said "almost nothing".
in my experiment whe used it one evening at high power.
whe where quite happy with the results,enough to say the symetric moddel works great.
the succes of the cbe speaks for itself.

It works no different than cone (and pressure) correction and enforces the panel.
