I am exploring the option of building a sub. I dont want to try reinventing the wheel.
What I would prefer is to use an existing design which is easy to build. Tried and tested types..., and one preferably which is not a compromised design.
going DIY.....Am I right in my understanding that I could get a better and more powerful sub for the price I would get a out of the box one? Maybe even get two for one?
A music first sub is what I need. I understand that sealed would be the way to go for a first timer. It would be great if it could go low too, since i do watch a quite a few movies.

Give us more specifics on budget, size, room, intended use etc, and we can suggest designs.
