I'm planning on trying to build a good seat-shaker for a friend, just to experiment.
I have strong magnets and a coil with a core.
So I need a good suspension to get the coil and core centered between magnets.
How can I build a good suspension that doesn't restrict the movement too much?
I have strong short springs that don't attract much to magnets.
 
Did a fast setup. The springs keep the magnets away and the magnets keep everything together by pulling force only. These are tough springs!
The coil is 20Ω DC , that's a pity but at the moment I have no other coil that is suitable.

It is vibrating clearly at only 10W but nowhere near 'buttkicker' levels of course. I don't expect to reach that efficiency either.

How to improve?

Sorry Alvis. Haven't got time, living alone and full time job...
If I could just get a mechanical setup to work with but I doubt that magnets are a good thing, since they attract to the iron core by themselves, it might work against the goal.
I would like to experiment without core, or without magnets.

Any thought is appreciated!
