For HT use and 20Hz I would go vented enclosure. At sealed enclosure F12=25Hz and max spl @20Hz=110dB(in room). A few designs from eminence -> http://www.eminence.com/pdf/LAB_15_cab.pdf

Hi vinodk,

T-QWP = tapped quarter wave pipe
T-TQWP = tapped tapered quarter wave pipe

These enclosure forms have been advocated in this forum by bjorno, and seem to result in home speakers of high quality. If you use the search you should be able to find any number of examples. Here is one:

Hi Veke 76,

A TH would work nicely for HT, if you have the room for it, about 400L_net minium. Much better low end than a BR.

Hi Veke 76,

Here is a Hornresp comparison between a TH and the "Large Deep Bass Design", both with the same internal volume (Hornresp may exaggerate the peaks):

With Large Deep Bass Design port air velocity and group delay becomes issue. It peaks 26m/s@22Hz. It should stay below 17m/s. Group delay 56ms@22Hz. It should stay below 18ms.

Any similar problems with TH?

Hi Veke 76,

I think particle velocity is where the real advantage of the TH over the BR comes in:

My 67L sealed enclosure and highpass@12Hz and lowpass@80Hz will give nice sim output down to 18Hz in room and 110dB@20Hz in room. That's enough for me.

Hi Veke 76,

And your design will make it so much easier to fit multiple subwoofers in the same room. Will you be taking measurements when you're done?

Regards,
