Id like to build the bass guitarist in the band im in a bass cab/speaker for our rehearsals.

I'd like to build it to sound more HIFI then his current stack.

Genz-Benz NEOX-212T 600W 2x12 Bass Cabinet: Shop Bass & Other Musical Instruments | Musician's Friend

which is designed for use on stage, to project the sound forward, but sounds a little ugly (nasal/loose/middy) ??? in a smallish room.

im thinking about using a car audio subwoofer (high power handling, long excursion, low fs) in a sealed box, with a pair of 6"s to take over from 200hz and up.

any thoughts ideas appreciated.:)

Hi,

You could try stuffing the box with BAF, rockwool or similar.
For no reason that makes sense music speakers cabinets are
mostly unstuffed and you get very bad box space resonances.

I stuffed all my bass cabinets for a smoother and deeper
effect, but leave room for the ports to work, usually.

I really cannot see why they should be bad for rehearsals if
you play with the amp EQ and correctly set the tweeter level.

The harmony central reviews are good, shouldn't be a problem.

rgds, sreten.
