SA WM40 Box Replacement

I've come across a pretty good deal on a Sony SA WM40 and after reading some reviews about its boominess issues I was wondering if I designed and built my own box for it with proper volume tuning stuffing etc if i could greatly improve its performance or if its issues are inherent of the cone and amp.

Do you have a way to test the TS parameters of the driver?

If so then you could model the driver-box system to see if it is optimized by comparing it to the current box volume, tuning, etc.

No sorry I wish haha. I looked everywhere for a frequency response graph but couldn't find one. I'll keep looking for the TS stuff though

I actually haven't gotten it yet even if I did though, I'm (if all goes according to plan) getting it tonight.

What do you think the cheapest passable testing system (for frequency response) I could use would be? I've got a multimeter I could break out for DC resistance but thats pretty much all I could do in that respect

Just got the sub. I haven't had the chance to do any hard core testing yet but I'll post some more info on it soon

For testing frequency response on the cheap I like REW5 or TrueRTA. If you have a radio shack SPL meter and a male RCA to male mono mini adaptor to hook it to your computer you will have a pretty good idea of what is going on with either of those programs.

With the rad shack meter remember to look up the compensation charts.
