On another subject, what is the best placement location for a horn sub? I am assuming a corner.

+1! Using the speakers' 8x12 shape as the port hole would have really set it off!

Hi permo,

A corner is a good starting point, for some (in parts deep :-)) thoughts on leveling the low end in a room see:

Post #5 has a link to subwoofer setup after Geddes.

Well, the port had to have certain total area, so 8 X12 would have been to large and affected the performance.

I have to say this box was cut and assembled to such tight tolerances that I beleive it was airtight before running caulk on the seems.

Just an updated. The box has been puttied and sanded (twice) and just recieved it's first coating of oil based primer (water base in a no, no on MDF). I will sand it again and shoot the hammer finish black on sometime this week. Then more photos.

Looking forward to your sub

Alas, the 8 x 12 is gone from Parts Express Seems to be riding into the sunset so it is good that you have it done.

Has anyone found out why this driver seems to be unobtanium?

I know! I wanted to buy another one for a different project and they were gone! They want more for the 6X9 then they did for the 8X12.

The 8X12 is a substantial driver, a pair of them moves more air than a 15 inch subwoofer with 11mm of xmax.

I have a feeling this horn is going to be rediculous after I break it in.

I bought two on sale at oaudio.de, but sold them again when the price went up.

You can still get it here but quite expensive
