Hi. just wondering if any one can give some input on SQ+low frequency extension for HT use :
1. Stroker Pro-15. Fs=26 Hz. Power handling= 2500 watt RMS. Price around 1000 usd. Maget double stacked, 3 spiders. magnet weight =unknown . BL=22.2 Xmax=40mm 2. Rockford Fosgate, T2-D415: Fs=31 Hz, Power Handling=1000W RMS, Price around =600 UAD, Magnet triple stacked, single spide, magnet weight=260 oz. BL=28 Xmax=31mm Any one would be used in pairs possibly vented/sealed with Linkwitz transform. Rockford Fosgate has greater magnet component, greater BL b ut lesser Xmax , lesser power handling . Any ideas which one to choose. auditioning in proper box is not possible. regards. |

For your house?
Is size a primary concern? Or is price? Or is extension? Or output? I've owned multiple 12w7's. They are great. But price wise? I'd look Elsewhere now knowing what I know. |

I'd vote for the Stroker, as I've said before it gets very good reviews for SQ and SPL. Over the Rockford it's got: oodles more power handling, 30% more X-max (both important for an LT enclosure), "shorting rings":Purpose of a copper shorting ring? - DIYMA.com - Scientific Car Audio - Truth in Sound Quality
I used to run the old stroker 18D2 in a half vol box in my car-best sub I've owned in terms of grins per mile, wasn't really bothered by SQ in those days but it was surprisingly accurate and punchy! |

Yes, for HT. Size no concern. SQ+SPL in the lowest octaves below 44 Hz. i.e the lowest cross over point from my behringer. Above that till 80 Hz i plan to go dual 15 inch peavey low rider woofers tuned to around 33 Hz.
Hope to have the SLAM/PUNCH and the lowest gu bass i can just feeel only. thanks Baron Groog for the input . I have a question What would be the theoretical F3 with Stroker Pro 15 for maximally flat reflex port. Now can we tune the box below the F3 . i mean if F3=32 Hz, will tuning it at 15 Hz give much output down to 15 Hz? |

For the best HT output go for a bandpass box,
Single tuned Chamber 1: 14.2cf Chamber 2: 3.01cf Fb: 29.44Hz F3: 16.06Hz Vent 18"Hx2.5"Wx43.71"L Green trace Double tuned BP: Chamber 1: 19.83cf Chamber 2: 5.833cf Fb: 15.56Hz (large chamber) Fb: 28.79Hz (small chamber) F3: 13.74Hz Vent 1: 18"Hx3"Wx26.21"L (large chamber) Vent 2: 18"Hx2.5"Wx21.46"L (small chamber) Red trace Vented: 14.78Cf 14,82Hz Fb 12.05Hz F3 Vent 18"Hx3"Wx46.89"L Yellow trace |

can we compare it to JL W7 ??? in SPL in HT i think below 30 Hz the ear is mostly insensitive.
