OK guys lots of Ideas and in put thanks. if some one has a way of sending me some bule prints. That would be really sweet. Also if some one could point me a How to use Hornrasp it would be help full as well.
can't go wrong with my friend mike's tutorial....
Simple Tapped Horn Tutorial using Hornresp - AVS Forum
I do find it strange that with an efficiency jumping up and down in the frequency band, that the spl output is quite flat.
Hi Bart,
This is because the load impedance is also jumping up and down quite dramatically .
Kind regards,
David
Thanks David, I learned a lot in these few posts!
Hi Bart,
You're welcome .
Just to complete the picture - your original example of 1 watt producing 88dB translates to an efficiency of 0.77 percent if the loudspeaker radiates into 4 x Pi free space and the SPL is measured at a distance of 1 metre.
The 'dB efficiency calculator' applet referred to by Djim will give a different result because it assumes radiation into 2 x Pi space rather than 4 x Pi space. Even when this difference is taken into account there will still be a slight discrepancy because the efficiency formula used by the applet contains a simplifying approximation.
Kind regards,
David
