Dear Tak,
This was my own first project and so far the only one I'm happy with. May i suggest a few tips...

Buy a driver that goes as low as you want. Unless you'r really particular, any driver from 8" to 12" in diameter that goes below 40Hz will do. Try to go lower.

Find out from the manufacturer what size (vol) box it needs and the dimensions of a port (hole) to make the bass sound better.

Find a plate Amp that has a suitable power output to match the driver. No use putting a 240wrms amp on an 80 watt driver, or vica versa.

Calculate the vol of the plate amp and add it to the box vol needed for the driver you selected.

Build a box, install the driver and amp, glue (at least) some carpet behind the driver and port on the opposite wall of the box, plug it in,

and enjoy.......
