Default External Ports

I understand that if your port is inside the box you are supposed to subtract its volume from the volume of the port.

What I am wondering about are external ports.
Do you add them to the volume of the box since they are a tuned extension?
Or do you just forget about them?
If you were to seal an external port, it would enlarge the volume of the box.
So I am just wondering.

Thanks

Port volume is separate from the box volume, so you "forget about them".
If you seal them, they do become part of the box volume, whether external or internal.
