Greetings from Aus!
I've been a member for a little while and thought I better post something sooner or later. It might aswell be this simple little project. Nothing special or fancy, but does the job. Specially loaded in corner of the room. Both H/T and Stereo (hifi, 2ch, panned mono, what ever pleases... etc Moving on to the pics ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Fellow aussies will recognise the do-the-job bits from Jaycar. The Peerles 83049 is a now discontinued model that I had from other projects and the ply is recycled from other off-cuts. The only new component is the amp and the port, even the screws are recycled. What you can't see in the photos is the slaughter of the tennis balls and inside treatment with a product called Sound-Off, finished off with some light stuffing. Cheers! |

Seriously though, how does it sound? I have always wondered how good those Jaycar sub amps are. Any comments? Rgds, Keith Arnold blakkshepeaudio |

Keith, their pretty much do-the-job gear. I've had no issues, does exactly pretty much as they market it to do and has neat features for easy adaptability. Sound wise I'm still playing with stuffing and port lenght and x-over point. At this stage, the longer port (230mm) has reduced some of the boom/peaks I was experiancing earlier on. When Im close to a sound I like, I will RTA to get a simple in-room understanding of what its peaks/dips are. What has made a good difference is running it out of phase, the phase switch on the back of the amp made this easy. Basic tuning (ie gain, x over freq & phase) is easy on this amp, so i guess it gets bonus points for that. It doesn't get too hot and after 2 weeks of on/off listening hasn't skipped a beat. What I would like is for it to go lower, but for that I'd like to step up to an 18" of some sort... big cone area, minimal movement... |
