Nope !! I know that ...
Complete parts may be taxed . Example : you can carry some loudspeakers ,some crossover components ,but the functioning cabinets would be taxed.
You can carry a transformer ,some caps , a complete PCB with heatsink and components ,but not the assembled and working amplifier ,and they won't be taxed.
you can carry an HD , some periphereals , a mother board ,but not the full functioning computer ,and they won't be taxed.
You can carry .....
Depends also on the Holy Books they (bad , bad people !!!) have ,all the laws are written there ,maybe it changes from country to country .

Maybe you can take out the transformer ,so it's a different item ....

If you try it, make sure you have a photo of a similar plate amp installed in a subwoofer so you can just claim it is a repair assembly.

Hand carrying a heavy metal item is definitely not allowed. I once saw a lady arguing with airlines staff about carrying a weighing machine that had a heavy metal hook. Plate amplifier definitely fits the definition of heavy metallic objects.

I had carried an xbox 360 onto a plane once. They insisted on checking it out on this "sniffer" machine I'm assuming sniffs for explosives, but other than that, they really didn't bat an eye.

The Speaker Power Torpedo SP1-4000 ( rated 4000W/2 ohm, 2400W/4, 1300W/8) plate amp weighs only 7 lbs.

That is less weight than my laptop.

Back before there was as much airline baggage regulation, I took a small box filled with about 7 Atlas mic stand bases as carry on, with the stands in my suitcase as checked baggage,

The mic stand bases were in a box around 1 cubic foot weighing about 75 pounds, now that was "hand carrying a heavy metal item" .

Art

It depends on the country and the airport.

I flew out of Moscow with a Brass Monkey in my luggage. The Airport Staff took my luggage apart because they thought I had a dead baby in there.
