Hi All
Opinions sought... I am rebuilding my system with a view to new subwoofer options. 1 of Peerless 835017 XXLS sub vs 2 of Dynaudio 30W54 12 woofers in an isobaric configuration (already built- just finished prototype box 140 litre ). The dynaudios had been sitting around for some time unused. The dyns are rather nice and tight and deep, but maybe a little lacking in ultimate volume.-esp explosions etc. (when I say ultimate volume – its more than enough to annoy the wife and teenage kids...) I haven’t procured the peerless as yet but it may be available at a reasonable price. In WinISD they both have similar projected responses but the xmax of the Peerless is way above the Dynaudio. Anyone care to offer a comment on the Peerless driver – it seems to appear in car audio discussions frequently and wonder if it good enough for home (music and HT ) use Thanks in advance George

do you really mean isobaric? Push pull seems more likely for a 140 litre box.

well it's two drivers face to face , 25mm between them (clam shell?) and wired in parallel and reversed polarity- both move same direction on application of current.
push / pull ? - could be described as that i suppose Pardon my ignorance- which i have worked hard at achieving cheers george

you are correct. that's isobaric. push pull is a little different. The drivers are wired the same as isobaric but are not face to face. see attachment

The XLS is an all-around better woofer than the Dyn. You'll be happy with the switch.
