Hi,
I came across two Posh SW8 commercial subwoofer drivers 8" long throw with a 1.5 dia voice coil and would like to build a small enclosure for them. Their original enclosures were abandoned above a wooden commercial ceiling as there was no way to retrieve the enclosures short of cutting a hole in the ceiling and this wasn't an option. They aren't especially efficient at 90db 1W 1M. I thought their small size would appeal to wife that occupies the same space that I live in. In other words if it doesn't appear too large she can probably live with it and put up with me. Anyone have any ideas as to the size of box this animal would be able to live in? I am under the assumption that the original subwoofer box was sealed and not ported and that the frequency response goes down to probably 3db down at 35-37hz. I cannot come across the theil small parameters for this driver. Any help would be appreciated. |

Greets!
Don't have a clue, though the specs imply it's vented. Anyway, they have a toll free number, so give them a jingle: http://www.poshspeakers.com/comm/pdf/sw8.pdf GM edit: ported it is: http://www.poshspeakers.com/res/products/subwoofer.htm

Looks like you are correct. In that particular box it is ported. In the round can and in the plastic enclosure they are not ported. I've taken them out of the plastic enclosure as well as the metal can.

OK, thanks, I didn't notice, I just focused on the one you asked about.
