Default Convert a passive subwoofer to active?

Hi Newbie here! I have just purchased a Pioneer VSX-820 Receiver to replave an ancient Pioneer xv-htd520 and I am re-using the speakers from the ...520. Of course the ...820 won't power the Subwoofer as the ...520 did! Any advice on converting my Sub to active? I'm on a budget and new speakers are not an option right now.
Thanx in advance, Wesitj

Parts Express has a variety of plate amps, many with built in crossovers, available in many different power ranges.

I have an old denon plate amp that I'm no longer using. It's a quality made in USA plate amp built in adjustable low pass crossover line level and speaker level inputs. Lmk if you want it! I don't want much for it...$50 plus shipping.
