After bothering some other users in another forum on a related subject, I decided to try my luck at the fountain of knowledge, ie. here :-)
The plan is to build a 'little' subwoofer, based on an old carspeaker, an Infinity Kappa Perfect 12.1 (yeah, nothing that hasn't been tried before, I know) using a 30 cm Sonotube. My specific limitation, however, is ceiling height, ie. Sonotube length. I'm limited to 2m40, and have decided to keep the length of the Sonotube within 2 metres. (There are some other factors as well, such as room size and WAF, but I'm not going there right now But two metres is too short to make a 'tubular sub' using a quarter wavelength approach. So I've been fooling around, thinking up all sorts of variations, and discovering that most software is a tad too complicated for me. I'm simply too green at all this simulation stuff, and not experienced enough on top of that. However, I've settled on a number of concepts, added as an attachment. I *think* these can be simulated in Hornresp, but frankly I haven't got a clue how to build them in Hornresp. I've tried some of the 'how to' guides on the net, but something is simply escaping me. Could anyone point me in the right direction, or suggest some other software package (preferably as simple as possible |

What woofer are you using?
The simplist way to get the system resonance down in a short pipe is to make it a mass-loaded TL. Since Horn Response will not model damping it is not a very effective tool for modeling TLs. dave

![]() Oh dear. Well, I'll grab a bottle of asperin, find a quiet corner, and cry myself to sleep. After that I'll have another look at this Looking at the graphs though, I'm tempted to drop my quest for a TL and simply build a BR... the gains seem to be limited in this specific case. |
