Can anyone throw a few suggestions for small subs to match with my newly built za5.2 L&R, 5.3 center? (Zaph|Audio - ZA5 Speaker Designs with ZA14W08 woofer and Vifa DQ25SC16-04 tweeter)
I'm guessing crossed at 80-100mhz or so? Reqs: 1) Plate Amp & Driver $300 or less 2) If possible: 15x18x18 maximum external size 3cf or so? (fit under end table) 3) Looking for good LFE rumble and 'tight' sounding music (if that makes any sense?) NOT looking for or needing crazy SPL. The room this setup is in is only 12 x 20 x 8. Prefer a DIY solution. Thanks! |

707kevin,
Those are nice speakers. Wanting LFE and HiFi quality dosn't mix well I'm afraid but in this case I would go for a sealed box with a large driver and an inductor in series.

Even better in a 3ft^3 box with a 4in dia. port 14in long tuned to 25.77hz. I might just build one of those for fun.

Lol, I DID write megahertz. What a tard! I'm sys admin at work here, so I deal with 'mhz' alllll day long - just habit to type 'mhz'
Anyways. I like the price on the parts revboden linked, thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to continue researching and checking out completed projects. I could probably get away with a 4ft^3 box. If that would improve my driver choices / quality option I could make that happen. thanks!! |

I always wanted to try the P.E. Triska project. I've read a number of reviews and people seem to like them. For the price, you could build 3 or 4 of them and have distributed bass.
