Default 4 new BIG subwoofers

I want to build 4 new basrefleks subwoofers

I already have 16 Peerless XLS 830452 units from another projekt. didn't really get into the hole Dipole thing...

I'm going to build 4 cabs of 200 liters(minus the ports) each with 4 speaker units.

But i was wondering if i would be better of using a pro woofer instead.

using a pro woofer instead has both pros and cons..
Both setup would almost have the same powerhandeling(more than i can throw at it anyways..)

Pros
a little higher SPL above 30hz
Cheaper(depends)

Cons
Lower Xmax

It can be cheaper to buy a pro woofer, if i get a good price on my Peerless XLS unit.

What would YOU do?

if you would buy a pro driver, what driver would you buy. I've looked at PD, Beyma and Fane

I would use the Peerless woofers. They are made for exactly what you are planning.

Is this going to be used in a disco or something? I can't imagine what 8 woofers like those would do in a home situation...

With a Para-EQ and pro-amplifier It should do some damage.
Pro drivers like big boxes to get really low but then you don't need much amp.

For home theater? Wow. It will shake the entire house!

With a woofer array like that, once you add the room gain you will have an amazing woofer!

Also, the bulk of the bass energy in a movie soundtrack is in the 50-100hz range. Really deep, low response is not as important as you might think.

That's kinda the idea

Thanks. I didn't know that, but sort of figured since most end-users have low-end equipment and therefore "tuning" the sound so that most people can get someting out of it.

With 16 Peerless XLS 830452 I'd look at putting 4 sets of 4 drivers in an IB configuration in 4 locations in your room.....if that is posible. Their low Qts will give you very fast bass.

Yes, I would. Good driver and LOTS of surface area. Each driver has 79 sq in of surface area. That is a total of 1268" of surface area. That is the equivilant of a 40" driver!!!!!
