M&K did a common back volume with the drivers on adjacent sides of the box, it got distortion cancellation, but only in the bottom octave.

For years I planned making (2) 6 inch diameter x 6 foot PVC or stiff cardboard tube bass cannons using 4 inch Radio Shack woofers I've had for 20 years. At one end the driver basket would be inside the tube, the other side the driver basket would be facing outside (wired out of phase).

Never built it, but think there has since been products or kits designed to be positioned behind a couch or hung by wires overhead. I think Bose even makes something like that now.

I purchased a M&K MX-90 push pull subwoofer back in 1994 and still use it. It is a sound design and I've always liked the concept as well as the sound.

Martin Logan / now Paradigm subwoofer uses an interesting layout too.

What is your goal? Where will these be used? Home theater? Live sound? What amp? How big? What frequencies are you trying to reproduce?

Don't know if 'serializing' two drivers instead of 'paralleling' them might be worse . If they are also mechanically cross-connected ,like in isobaric p-p ,currents in the VCs would be also 'equalized' due to backEMF and mutual pistonic movement . If the two VCs are not perfectly equal ,one speaker may have slightly different 'activation' time ,so it may be a 'load' for the more efficient one. Am I clear ???

For the sake of novelty they miss getting the most force cancellation. They are relying on the cabinets to act as force carriers which means the box is taking all the load, and by having 3 instead of 2 or 4 are not using the most effective geometry.
