Eminence will do pretty much whatever you want if you pay for tooling and order 5000 pieces...

I have purchased from them before. A custom 12 with a 0.3125 top plate, 2" coil, and a 54 oz magnet. And two different 15 models, both with 0.375 top plates, one with a 2-1/2" coil and 54oz, the other with a 3" coil and 95oz (PA stuff).

Hi Djk,

That looks like an old RCF L15P200 (the AK version has a 4 inch coil)

What drivers will work with this that are a bit cheaper than the $300 (when bought in groups of 4) 18TBX100? I will model a few but I don't know if someone already has a list

B&C 18PS76 18" Woofer 294-675

This models very well, and it's $100 cheaper. It's got a little less x-max at 7mm but thats pretty much all I will be able to push it to with under 300w of power per speaker.

i gues it depends on the power availeble.
with enough power the tbx wil be better.
with limited power and funds, the ps would be a good choice.

Cone seems very light. Don't know how strong it will be loaded in a horn....

Hi mRgSr,

Can you give one example where cone failure happened with an Italian brand driver without overpowering it?
In other words, the whole light cone argument that could lead to mechanical failure, is a non issue for pro LF drivers.

What I meant was strong with output. It may sound fine at low power, but drive it to its AES rating and it may not sound so good. Many on here have commented on tapped horns with light cones and uneven loading sounding distressed at higher output...

But didn't Tom Danley say a while back, how he had to create a glass window in the side of a cabinet in order to see what was going on (with repeated cone failures) and when a certain frequency was hit, the cone would fold up....

Hi mRgSr,

The 18PS76 does not have an extended Xmax nor extreme power ratings but has a relative strong motor. As long you don't try to push it beyond Xmax with brute force I don't see any problem.

Do you have a link of that Danley quote?
